What are the specifications of an iPowerUp solar case?
iPowerUp solar cases are available in two battery capacities: 1700 mAh and 2100 mAh. These provide estimated phone use times of roughly 9, 11, and 17 hours, respectively. The case includes a built-in solar panel, an OLED or LED power indicator for real-time solar input and battery level status, a multi-mode button for switching modes, and priority charging that prioritizes your phone’s power. It also offers raised edges around the phone screen and a solar panel for protection, overall high-impact durability, and a design that uses up to 50% post-consumer recycled plastics.
How long does solar charging take?
In good sunlight, about one hour of solar exposure can provide two or more hours of typical phone use. A full rapid charge with a USB-C cable typically takes 2.5 to 3.5 hours, while a full standard or solar chargetakes 5 to 6 hours. (stats from Battery manuf. Spec sheet)
Charging times vary based on the charging mode, sunlight, usage, and environmental conditions.
Does iPowerUp work without sunlight?

Warning: On days above 90° F (32 C), the solar panel could become hot. Please keep it away from children.
How the standard app works?
The iPowerUp App exists to free you from thinking about your phone’s power levels. The iPowerUp app is designed to both reduce battery anxiety and maintain long-term battery life. It provides real-time monitoring and alerts for critical conditions, preventing unhappy surprises.
The app performs four primary functions:
- Monitors phone battery level and charging status
- Monitors the case battery level and charging status
- Monitors case temperature and alerts when unhealthy
- Tracks 10 days of usage history for insight into charging patterns
For the best battery performance
- Keep battery levels between 20% and 80%
- Avoid frequent battery levels below 20% or charging above 90%
- Consistent battery levels in the 20% to 80% range help extend battery lifespan and performance
Preserve battery life
- Avoid temperatures below 32°F (0°C) and above 104°F (40°C)
- Extreme heat or cold can permanently reduce battery capacity and efficiency
How long does a solar charge take?
Solar charging speed depends on the strength of the sunlight and environmental conditions. Usage examples below reflect typical scenarios.
- 1 hour of strong sunlight typically provides 2 or more hours of common phone use
- 4–6 hours of constant sunlight typically provides a full case battery charge
Results vary by case model and local environmental factors.
How long does a typical cable charge take?
Cable charging times are still being finalized. Final values will be confirmed after production testing. Charging speed will depend on the power adapter used.
How many times can I charge my phone?
The case contains a top-tier Class A battery built for longevity. It is rated for up to 300+ charge cycles. After this point, battery efficiency may gradually decrease.
For the best solar energy collection?
- Solar charging works in most daylight conditions
- The strongest sunlight is typically at midday, when there is no atmospheric interference (clouds, trees, etc.)
- Point the case directly at the sun and angle it at an average of 45°. Move the case once an hour to maintain the optimal incidence angle of light
Best iPowerUp app settings
- Battery alerts are sent at: 1%, 5%,10%, 20%, 80%, 90%, 95% and 100%.
